IND-513 e-file error

Duplicate Condition: /Return/ReturnHeader/Filer/SpouseSSN: The Spouse SSN in the return must not be the same as Spouse SSN in another return filed for the same tax year. (value #########, rule IND-513)
You'll get this error if the spouse SSN has already been entered for the spouse on another return.

Solution

  1. Go to the General folder.
  2. Open the 1040 screen.
  3. Check the
    Spouse SSN
    field for accuracy. If the SSN is incorrect, correct it, then re-create and resubmit the e-file.
  4. If the SSN is correct, contact the IRS at 866.255.0654 to ask about the SSN in question and procedures for filing on paper.
