IND-515 e-file error

Duplicate Condition: /Return/ReturnHeader/Filer/PrimarySSN: The Primary SSN in the Return Header must not be equal to the Primary SSN in another return filed for the same tax year. (value #########, rule IND-515)
You'll get this error if the SSN entered for the taxpayer was entered on another return.

Solution

  1. Go to the General folder.
  2. Select the 1040 screen.
  3. Check the
    Taxpayer's SSN
    field for accuracy. If it's incorrect, correct it, then recreate and retransmit the e-file.
  4. If it's correct, you'll need to file the return on paper with Form 8948. You can contact the IRS at 866.255.0654 to ask about the SSN in question.
