R0000-544-02 e-file error

If there are any dependents listed in the return, then the Primary SSN must not be the same as a Dependent SSN on another tax return.
You'll get this error if the SSN entered on return was entered for a dependent on another accepted return.

    1. Go to the General folder.
    2. Select the
      1040
      screen.
    3. Check the
      SSN
      field for accuracy.
    4. Correct any typos or incorrect information, then recreate and retransmit the e-file.
  • If you're filing this return on behalf of a college-age dependent:

    2. Select the
      1040
      screen.
    3. Make sure the

      and
Meets certain children age 18 through 23
      fields are correct.
    4. Correct any typos or incorrect information, then recreate and retransmit the e-file.
  • If the fields are correct, you'll need to file the return on paper with Form 8948. You can contact the IRS e-help desk at 866.255.0654 for more information.
