SEIC-F1040-506 e-file error

Each 'QualifyingChildSSN' that has a value on Schedule EIC (Form 1040), must not be equal to another Qualifying Child SSN on another accepted return for the same tax year. (value #########, rule SEIC-F1040-506-02)
The value represents the SSN of the dependent causing the rejection.
The qualifying child's SSN listed for the purpose of claiming EIC has been used on another tax return. This could be the result of an inadvertent data entry error or someone else has claimed this dependent. This is often a companion to Reject Code R0000-507-01.

Solution

  1. Go to the
    General
    input folder.
  2. Select the 1040 screen.
  3. Open the
    Dependent information
    statement box.
  4. Verify the
    name
    and
    SSN
    entered are correct.
  5. If there was a typo, correct it. Then re-create and retransmit the e-file.
  6. If fields are correct and the filer is entitled to EIC, explain to the taxpayer that the qualifying child's SSN was already used and the return must be filed on paper with Form 8948. For more information, contact the IRS e-help desk at 866.255.0654.
