Electronic filing guidelines for noncalculating Form 8854

Enter Form 8854, Initial and Annual Expatriation Statement, in the
Non Calculating
 folder. You can file Form 8854 electronically with Form 1040NR returns except in the following cases:
  • Situations that need an extra statement
  • Form 8854, Page 3, Section B
  • Form 8854, Page 4, Section C

Form 8854, Page 1, Part I, Line 1

Enter a phone number in 1 of the following fields:
  • Last field in the Line 1 section
  • Foreign phone number
     field in the
    1040
     screen
  • Daytime telephone/ext number
     field in the
    1040
     screen
Entries in the address fields of Line 1 aren't included in the electronically filed Form 8854. Instead, the address information for Line 1 repeats the address entered in the
1040
 screen.

These fields are necessary to file Form 8854 electronically. When entering an address different than that entered on the
1040
 screen, use the country code dropdown to select the country.
