Statutory employee wages

Use these steps to enter statutory Form W-2 employee wages reportable on Schedule C.
  1. Go to the Income folder, then the
    W2
screen, and enter the W-2 information. Be sure to mark the
    Statutory employee
checkbox in Box 13. If you don't complete this field on the client’s W-2, you need to force the statutory wages on Schedule C.
  2. Go to the Business folder, then the
    C
    screen.
  3. Go to the
    W2 unit# for statutory employee
    screen in Field view.
  4. From the dropdown menu, select the W-2 for the wages to report on Schedule C.
  5. Go to Forms view to verify that Schedule C completes correctly and that Form 1040, line 1 doesn't include the statutory wages.
note
  • When you select a W-2 from the
    W2 unit# for statutory employee
screen in Field view, UltraTax CS automatically enters
    Code 1
    in the
    Self-employment code
    field on the
    C
screen. According to the Schedule SE Instructions, net profits or losses derived from statutory employee income shouldn't be included on Short or Long Schedule SE, line 2.
  • If you only need to report a portion of the W-2 wages on Schedule C, or need to include multiple Forms W-2 on the same Schedule C, enter this information in the
    Statutory employee wages (Force)
    field.
