Extension payment — electronic funds withdrawal

The New York Department of Taxation and Finance and UltraTax CS/1040-NY support electronic filing of the New York extension request and electronic funds withdrawal for the extension payment.

Generate an extension payment

Use the
NYExt
 screen to generate an extension request or payment.

Conditions to generate electronic record, signature forms, and filing instructions

To generate the electronic record for extension payment, electronic filing signature Form TR-579.1-IT and the related filing instructions, all of the following conditions need to be met before generating the extension payment.

To create electronic estimated tax payments with the extension, go to

Print Extensions

Options
,
Extension Print Options
, then mark the
Print estimates with extension
checkbox.
  • On the federal
    ELF
     screen:
    • Mark the
      File the return electronically
       checkbox.
    • Clear the
      Suppress the creation of State electronic file(s)
       checkbox.
    • Clear the
      Suppress the creation of Both federal and state electronic files
       checkbox.
    • Mark the
      File state extension electronically
       checkbox.
  • On the federal
    1040
     screen: Enter the
    Daytime telephone
    .
  • On the federal
    IDAuth
     screen:
    • Enter the identifying information for the taxpayer and spouse, as needed, including the document number if the identification was issued by the state of New York.
    • Alternatively, enter the
      3 — no applicable identification
       if the taxpayer/spouse doesn't have identification.
  • On the
    NYELF
     screen, clear the
    Suppress New York e-file
     checkbox.
  • On the
    NYEROCer
     screen, mark the
    For authorization of electronic payment for extension: I have read the certification above and agree
     checkbox.
  • On the
    NYBank
     screen, mark the
    Enable electronic funds withdrawal for extension payment
    .
  • Bank information:
    • Routing transit number.
    • Name of financial institution.
    • Depositor account number.
    • Type of account.
    • Bank account type.
