Allocate expenses to tax-exempt income

You can allocate expenses to tax-exempt income directly or indirectly.
  1. To allocate expenses indirectly:
  2. To allocate expenses other than tax expenses indirectly, use 1 of the following methods:
    • Enter expenses on the
      Deduct
      screen in the
      Deductions
      folder, but don't use the statement window for the expense.
    • Enter the expense in the statement window for the expense and leave
      Income Type
      blank to allocate the expense to all income types.
  3. To allocate tax expenses indirectly, go to the
    Allocate
    screen in the
    Allocation
    folder and mark the
    Allocate indirect tax expense to all income types
    checkbox.
  4. To allocate expenses directly:

    Deduct
    screen in the
    Deductions
    folder.
  6. Open the statement window for the expense.
  7. Enter

    in
    Income Type
