Prepare 1065 federal extensions for electronic filing

Follow these steps to prepare an electronic federal extension with a balance due. To prepare an electronic federal extension with no balance due, skip steps 1 and 2 and start at step 3.
  1. Enter the necessary information to calculate a balance due on Form 1065 and Form 8804.
  2. To request an electronic funds withdrawal to pay the balance due on the extension, complete the fields in the Extension Information section of the
    ELF
    screen in the Electronic Filing folder and the Account Information section of the
    Bank
    screen in the General folder.
  3. Select
    File
    , then
    Print Extensions
    .
  4. Mark the
    Create electronic file
    checkbox.
  5. Select
    Check E-File
    or
    E-File
    . If you select
    Check E-File
    , UltraTax CS checks for errors in the electronic file, but doesn't create the electronic file. When you select
    E-File
    , UltraTax CS checks for errors in the electronic file and creates the electronic file.

    • UltraTax CS defaults to the previous extension print selection, so you may need to reset your extension print options. If you get a prompt that
      The selected clients will not be printed because their entity does not support the extension selected
      when you print or create an electronic extension, select
      Options
      , the
      Extension Print Options
      tab, then
      First extension
      in the Which section.
    • Reset your extension print options to
      First extension
      after you print or create a 2nd extension.
