e-filing: 1065 Tennessee (TN)

E-file mandate
The State of Tennessee has an e-file mandate for TN forms FAE170, FAE 174, FAE 172, FAE 173, FAE 183, INC 250, and INC 251.
Payments must be made electronically by Direct Debit (EFW) or EFT. Electronic funds withdrawal (EFW) payment information should be included with the electronic file. Electronic funds transfer (EFT) payments can be made through the payment portal. Payments made by check aren't allowed.
Forms included in the e-file
UltraTax CS and the Tennessee Department of Revenue support electronic filing of the following types of partnership returns:
  • Calendar year
  • Fiscal year
  • Short year
  • Amended
  • Extension
Forms not supported for e-filing
PDF attachments
For tax years prior to 2018, the Tennessee DOR can't accept PDF attachments. If additional information is needed, the State will make a request from the taxpayer.
For tax year 2018, TN now accepts PDF attachments for e-filed returns.
Payment methods
The Tennessee DOR accepts Direct Debit (EFW), Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for payments of balance due returns. Checks are not allowed.
Direct deposit of refunds is also not supported.
