Electronic filing mandate

There is currently no electronic filing mandate for Texas.

Returns supported for electronic filing

You can electronically file the following returns:
  • C Corporation.
  • S Corporation.
  • Consolidated / combined.
  • Extension.

Returns not supported for electronic filing

You can't electronically file the following returns:
  • Amended returns.
  • Form AP-114.
  • Form 05-391.
  • Form 05-359.
  • Form 01-137.

Signature requirements for electronic filing

Texas doesn't have a specific signature form for electronic filing. Texas considers the act of completing and filing electronically an authorized signature.

Resubmitting returns

If you need to make a change to an e-filed return accepted by the State of Texas, you'll need to amend the return.
If Texas rejects the return, you can make the changes, correct the rejection, and resubmit. You'll need to file and have the comptroller accept it by the return due date or 10 calendar days after you initially received the rejected acknowledgement, whichever is later.

Attachments

Texas doesn't need a federal attachment in the electronic file and doesn't allow PDF attachments.

Payment methods

Depending on the amount you've paid in the prior year, you can make payments by electronic funds withdrawal (direct debit), electronic funds transfer (EFT), credit card, or check. 
You need to include bank information and a requested payment date when you request EFW. Texas will use the bank information you enter on federal Bank screen. If you have different bank information for Texas, use the TXBank screen in the General folder.
