CS Connect: Use a proxy server to download/apply application updates

Using CS Connect, you can obtain the application updates relevant to the applications you have installed as soon as the updates become available.
If you are not successful connecting to CS Connect when using a proxy server, try the following.
  • Test your connection. To do this, select
    CS Connect
    ,
    Communications Setup
    , then
    Test Connection
    . If any test fails, continue with the list to correct the connection issue.
  • In UltraTax CS, select
    CS Connect
    , then
    Communications Setup
     and select the
    Proxy Settings
     option. Verify that the address and port listed here match those that are listed in the
    LAN Settings
    . To locate the
    LAN Settings
     on your computer, enter
    Internet Options
     in the search field next to the Windows Start button, then select
    Connections
     and
    LAN Settings
    .
  • If you receive a
    403 Authentications is Invalid
     or similar error, access
    CS Connect
    ,
    Communications Setup
    , then
    Proxy Settings
    , and unmark the
    Proxy Authentication
     checkbox. This may be an option that you have marked, but don’t need because it is not set up on your proxy server. If you are certain that you use proxy authentication, then you will need to verify your username and password with your network administrator. Or try another username and password (possibly the administrator's).
  • Verify that
    Ports 80
     - IP address (167.68.25.183) and
    443
     - IP address (167.68.25.115) are open for both inbound and outbound traffic.
  • Firewall and Internet Security: Check for any antivirus applications, Norton Internet Security, McAfee Firewall, Spy Ware, or pop up blockers installed. If you have any of these installed, turn them off when trying to use to CS Connect. These applications packages could prohibit a Proxy connection.
  • If the previous options fail and you have an ISA 2000 proxy server (the most common), read the following Microsoft Article that may help you configure your proxy server (MS295667).
UltraTax CS gives you the option to run in a proxy server environment through CS Connect; however, there is a vast number of different proxy servers on the market and various possible configurations within each. You may need to contact your network administrator so that the proxy server can be appropriately configured.
