Sign 1120 or 990 e-file using Scanned Form 8453 option

There are 2 options for signing an 1120 or 990 e-file:
Practitioner PIN
or
Scanned Form 8453
. Do the following to sign using the Scanned Form 8453 option.
  1. Go to the
    Electronic Filing
    folder and complete the
    Signature date
    field on the
    ELF
    screen. In the Electronic Filing Personal Identification Number (PIN) Information section of the screen, leave the fields blank.
  2. After the return is completed, print a copy of 1 of the following forms, sign the form as Electronic Return Originator (ERO), and have an authorized officer of the Corporation sign the form as well:
    • Form 8453-C, U.S. Corporation Income Tax Declaration for an IRS e-file Return
    • Form 8453-S, U.S. S Corporation Income Tax Declaration for an IRS e-file Return
    • Form 8453-I, Foreign Corporation Income Tax Deduction for an IRS e-file Return
  3. To include this form in the electronic file, select
    Edit
    ,
    Electronic Filing Attachments
    , then
    Add
    .
  4. In the
    Attachment title
    field, select
    8453 Signature Document
    .
  5. In the
    Product
    field, select
    Federal
    .
  6. If the document was scanned into FileCabinet CS and needs to be embedded, select the
    FileCabinet CS
    option and choose
    Select
    to select the document. If the document isn’t in FileCabinet CS, select
    File
    , then
    Browse
    to search for the document you want to attach. The document needs to be in PDF format.
    note
    If you want to proforma this attachment next year, mark the
    Proforma information to next year
    checkbox.
  7. Select
    OK
    to return to the
    Electronic Filing Attachment
    window.
  8. Select
    View Attachment
    if you want to view the PDF that will be attached to the electronic file, or select
    OK
    to close the window.
