Enter individual client
Organizer
data

After receiving the client's completed
Organizer
, select
View
, then
Client Organizer
to enter the information your client has given you. Use the navigation pane on the left to navigate through folders, which are similar to the normal data entry. Information you enter into the
Organizer
screens transfer to the corresponding Input screen.
Use the
Other Client Information
section to store details needed for the tax return. This information is for reference only and doesn't affect calculations. You can access it when using either the email or
Web Organizer
in these screens:
  • Est
    in the
    Payments
    folder.
  • SSA-1099
    in the
    Retirement
    folder.
  • 2441
    in the
    Credits
    folder.
  • ELF
    Electronic Filing
    folder.
  • D
    in the
    Income
    folder.

Enter state data

You can enter state
Organizer
information directly in the state
Organizer
screens.
Before installing a 1040 state:
  • For existing clients with data carried forward
    : State
    Organizer
    screens are ready for the resident state and any other state with carried-forward data.
  • For new clients
    : A state
    Organizer
    screen is available for the state entered in the
    State
    field on the
    1040
    screen.
After installing a 1040 state:
  • For existing clients with data carried forward
    : State
    Organizer
    screens are ready for the resident state and any other state with carried-forward data.
  • New clients
    : You can enter data in a state
    Organizer
    screen for the state in the
    State
    field on the
    1040
    screen. When entering a state postal code for an installed state during federal tax or
    Organizer
    data entry,
    UltraTax CS
    will prompt you to add the state return to the client.

Enter depreciation data

You can use the
Asset
tab in the client Organizer to track acquisitions and disposals of business assets.
The Asset List and Asset Acquisitions forms will print for any business activity with assets.
  • Clients can mark sold assets and their prices directly on the Asset List.
  • Use the comment line to add details about the sale, such as an installment sale, trade, or sale to a related party.
  • Use the Asset Acquisitions form to report assets acquired for the tax year.
You can print the Asset Report and add it to the client's Organizer package by adjusting the print collation settings.

You cannot electronically retrieve client data from emailed organizers. This is due to data limits with Adobe Acrobat Reader. You must manually enter information from emailed organizers into UltraTax CS.
