Error: Info 1926. Could not set file security for file.

Scenario

You may find the following error message in the
UltraTax CS
 installation error logs.
Error message
Info 1926. Could not set file security for file. Error: 0. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to modify the security permissions for this file.

Cause

The Windows permissions for the person running the installation aren't sufficient or a file is currently in use.

Solution 1: Make sure the files aren't in use

Make sure the
X:\WinCSI\UTYY
 folder isn't in use by anyone on the network. You can check open files on the server or restart to close all open files.

Solution 2: Make sure the path is correct and permissions are set

  1. Determine what location is missing permissions. It will be listed in the error log next to the error. It might look something like X:\WinCSI or \\Servername\WinCSI.
  2. Continue to the next step if this is the path you want to install to. If not, start the installation again and select the correct path.
  3. Set permissions for the user running the installation. They should have full control over the location mentioned in the error log. Consult your firm's IT professional for help.

Solution 3: Update the registry

If the wrong path still displays in the error log after changing the path during the installation, follow these steps to update registry keys.
  1. Determine which registry keys to update by searching for lines like this in the log:
    Property(S): _TOOLS_BASETARGETDIR = V:\WinCSI
    .
  2. Find the
    TARGETDIR
     lines with the incorrect path and note which product they're for. The
    TARGETDIR
     lines match with products as follows:
    • TOOLS_BASETARGETDIR: CSI Tools
    • FC_TARGETDIR: FileCabinet CS
    • FA_TARGETDIR: Fixed Assets CS
    • PL_TARGETDIR: Planner CS
    • UT_TARGETDIR: UltraTax CS
  3. Find the registry key for the product and ask your IT professional to make the necessary changes.
