Limited functionality of a consolidation master client

Some functionality is more limited for master clients than for regular clients.
  • In the Enter Transactions and Transaction Templates screens, only the journal entry transaction type is available. The subtypes available include eliminating journal entries, potential journal entries, and tax adjustments.
  • In the Options window for the Enter Transactions screen, the following fields are limited:
    • The Data entry method is set to Journal and can't be changed.
    • The Bank account is unavailable.
    • The Type is set to Journal Entry and can't be changed.
    • In the Fields to Skip tab, Bank account and Sales are selected and can't be changed. Period end, Frequency, and Period begin are not marked and can't be changed.
    • In the Distribution Columns to Skip section, 1099 and 1099 Details are selected and can't be changed.
  • The Balance Definitions window isn't available because the journal entry types are limited for master clients and it's best to round balances in the subsidiary clients before consolidating.
  • In the View Maintenance window on the Trial Balance screen, the Eliminating JE amount type is available, but the Report, Other, Adjusting JE, Reclassifying JE, and Other JE amount types aren't available.
  • When you change the posting period, the application doesn't carry balances forward during the year-end close because when you consolidate client data in the new year, the balances come from the subsidiary clients. The application automatically consolidates beginning balances during the consolidation process, so the Zero account balances option is selected and can't be changed, and the Close accounts by individual segments is not marked and can't be changed.
