There are a few things you or your Information Technology (IT) professional can do to help prevent issues during installation of the application. Share this with your IT professional or follow these steps.
Move to the database server:
  • Sit at the server where your Structured Query Language (SQL) database resides. Choose your server or check with your IT professional about the location of your SQL database.
Sign in as an administrator in Windows:
  • Make sure you sign in as a Windows administrator to prevent issues during installation. Check with your IT professional if you have questions or consult Windows' support site.
Create antivirus exceptions:
  • Don't turn off your antivirus, instead work with your IT professional to add the following exceptions:
    • [Name of the drive hosting WINCSI]:\WinCSI
    • C:\Program Files\Creative Solutions\Accounting CS
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Creative Solutions\Accounting CS if on a 64-bit operating system
    • C:\ProgramData\Creative Solutions\Accounting CS
    • C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Creative Solutions\Accounting CS
    • Add an exception for your SQL server.
Create firewall exceptions:
  • Add exceptions on TCP port 1433 for sqlservr.exe on the application server.
  • Add exceptions on UDP port 1434 for sqlbrowser.exe on the application server.
  • Add outbound exceptions for Workpapers CS:
    • C:\Program Files\Creative Solutions\Workpapers CS\WorkpapersCS.exe.
    • On a 64-bit operating system: C:\Program Files (x86)\Creative Solutions\Workpapers CS\WorkpapersCS.exe.
Set up these permissions in Windows:
  • Each person should have a local administrator account.
  • Your people will need
    Full control
    over these directories and subdirectories:
    • C:\Users\<user>
    • C:\Windows\Temp
Set up these server permissions in Windows:
  • Everyone needs
    Read
    ,
    Write
    , and
    Modify
access to the network location where you installed the application.
  • Everyone needs the same permissions for the application and data folders located in [drive name]:\WinCSI.
