Store engagement binders

Once you've completed an engagement for your clients, you'll need to store the historical data long term. The following information describes some options you have for storing engagement data outside of Workpapers CS.

Why can't I just store the engagement data on the Workpapers Dashboard?

Workpapers is built utilizing a Microsoft SQL Server database. Depending on the version and edition of SQL you're using, you are subject to database size limits set by Microsoft.
Additionally, having a large amount of data for a client may cause performance issues, because there is more data to move and work with as you navigate through the Workpapers Dashboard.

What are my options for storing data?

After completing an engagement, you can print the binder to one of four locations: FileCabinet CS, GoFileRoom, Onvio Documents, or to a PDF file.
  • FileCabinet CS and GoFileRoom are both document management systems intended to be a long term, paperless storage system. Workpapers CS is intended to be a workflow tool that allows you to keep all active documents in one location.
  • If you are not licensed for FileCabinet CS or GoFileRoom, you can print an engagement binder to a PDF and use a third-party backup and storage system to safeguard your engagement data.
  • If you are licensed for Onvio Documents, you can also print an engagement binder to Onvio Documents.

How do I remove the data from Workpapers CS?

Once you have moved the engagement data to a safe place for long term storage, you can delete the engagement binder from the Workpapers Dashboard.
In the Engagement Binders Tree portlet, right-click on the binder then select
Delete
.
