Use notes in an engagement binder

Use the
Notes
window to add, modify, delete, or reply to notes that are relevant to the engagement binder, folder, or workpaper.

Open the Notes window

There are 3 ways to open the
Notes
window in the Workpapers Dashboard.
  • Open in the Workpaper CS Dashboard:
    1. Choose the
      Select Portlets
      link to open the
      Select Portlets
      window.
    2. Mark the checkbox next to Notes and select
      OK
      to open the Notes portlet in the Workpapers Dashboard.
    3. Select an engagement binder, folder, or workpaper in the Engagement Binders Tree portlet to add a note, reply to an existing note, change the status of a note, or delete a note.
  • Open from the Engagement Binders Tree portlet:
    1. In the Engagement Binders Tree portlet, select an engagement binder, folder, or workpaper.
    2. Right-click and select
      Add Note
      to open the
      Notes
      window to add a new note, reply to an existing note, change the status of a note, or delete a note.
  • Open from the Notes List portlet:
    1. Choose the
      Select Portlets
      link to open the Select Portlets window.
    2. Mark the checkbox next to Notes List and select
      OK
      to open the Notes List portlet in the Workpapers Dashboard.
    3. Select a row for an engagement binder briefcase, folder, or workpaper in the list, and select the
      Open
      button.

Add new notes

Follow these steps to add a new note.
  1. Select the
    Note
    button to add a new note.
  2. Enter a subject for the note so that it can be identified in the
    Subject
    column of the Notes List portlet.
  3. Select a staff member from the list to whom you want to assign the note.
  4. Assign a priority of Normal, High, or Low to the note. When the note is assigned a priority of High, the note background turns red.
  5. Assign a status of Open, Cleared, or Reviewed to the note.
