Due to the implementation of the Granular Data Reporting, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has restricted the
description length to a maximum of 30 characters
per line, including spacing.
You'll want to make sure the description that the validation error has identified is no longer than 30 characters. If all the descriptions in every worksheet are within 30 characters, then you'll want to go through the steps below.
If you've used the work-related expenses schedule in the prior-year tax return, this will roll forward to the current tax return. If it's no longer needed, you should delete it or shorten the text to a maximum of 30 characters.
Go to the Other tab.
Tick the work-related expenses schedule box.
Go to the item worksheet the validation error is referring to, and remove the text in the top box or shorten it to only 30 characters.
Save the worksheet.
Go back to the Other tab and remove the work-related expenses schedule tick box.
