e-File rejection: SMF018 data mismatch error
SMF018: If Business Name in Issuer Detail has a value, then TIN and Business Name must match IRS records.
This happens when the Business name and TIN entered in Accounting CS are different than what the IRS has on file for Form 1099 recipients.
Solution
Make sure the Business name and TIN of the affected recipients are entered correctly in Accounting CS.
You can also call the IRS to find out how to verify what information they have.
If necessary, re-transmit the 1099s after you make the changes to the business name and TIN.
