Remove segments from your chart of accounts

Using account segments in your client's chart of accounts lets you track and report amounts by multiple factors. If you don't need a segmented chart of accounts for the client, follow these steps to remove them.
  1. Select
    Setup
    ,
    Clients
    ,  then select the
    Account Mask
    tab.
  2. Edit the account mask to have a longer core account mask.
  3. Select
    Setup
    , then
    Chart of Accounts
    .
  4. Edit each account by deleting the segment number and making the core number unique.
  5. Select
    Setup
    ,
    Clients
    , then the
    Account Mask
    tab.
  6. Select a row that contains the segment, then select the red X to delete the segment from the account mask.
  7. Select
    Setup
    , then
    Account Segments
    and delete or turn off the segment.
Another method of changing the client's chart of accounts mask is to create and use a new client record.
  1. Select
    File
    ,
    Print Reports
    , then select a Trial Balance report.
  2. Select
    Print Selected
    , and output the report to Microsoft Excel.
  3. In Microsoft Excel, remove extra rows and columns, and then renumber the accounts.
  4. Select
    Setup
    , then
    Clients
    and add a new client.
  5. Import the updated Microsoft Excel spreadsheet into the new client record.
