CoCounsel 2.0 is the CoCounsel application on thomsonreuters.com/cocounsel. Accessible through chat within Thomson Reuters and key third-party products, CoCounsel 2.0 marks a significant advance toward the vision of offering one GenAI assistant across every industry Thomson Reuters serves.
CoCounsel 2.0 introduces a single cross-product login, in addition to new integrations and capabilities that simplify, streamline, and supercharge legal professionals’ ability to complete complex workflows.
It includes profound upgrades and new capabilities in 3 main areas:
The Chat Assistant
: Now available within other Thomson Reuters products.
Integrations
: Enhanced connections with Microsoft 365 products and document management systems.
Skills and Performance
: Expanded functions and faster, better results to tackle complex workflows.
Customers that are currently on CoCounsel version 1.0 on the casetext.com platform will be migrated to CoCounsel 2.0 on thomsonreuters.com during Q1 2025. If you have a legacy CoCounsel account on casetext.com, your account will be migrated to operate on cocounsel.thomsonreuters.com. For a time, you will have access to both versions of CoCounsel through March 31, 2025.
What is the timing for 2.0 migration?
Migration will happen in waves with Wave 1 on February 1, 2025 and Wave 2 on March 1, 2025. The communications you receive will indicate on which date you are migrating to the new platform.
What is the new site to sign in to CoCounsel 2.0?
To access CoCounsel 2.0, you will need to sign in to

How will I sign in on cocounsel.thomsonreuters.com?
Thomson Reuters uses
OnePass
to let users the ability to log into multiple Thomson Reuters applications and websites with a single username and password. OnePass offers enhanced security with a unique username and password created and owned by a single user.
If you are already a user of OnePass, CoCounsel 2.0 will be added to your account, and you will be able to sign in as you do for other Thomson Reuters’ products. If you don’t currently use OnePass, you will receive a Registration Key on February 1, 2025 for Wave 1 customers and March 1, 2025 for Wave 2 guiding you through how to set up your OnePass.
If I used Single Sign On (SSO) to sign into CoCounsel on Casetext, how will I access CoCounsel 2.0?
To access CoCounsel 2.0 immediately, you will need to follow the OnePass process. To set up SSO in CoCounsel 2.0, you will need to contact your Account Representative, so they gather the necessary information to begin the technical process.
Will I be able to access both CoCounsel 1.0 and CoCounsel 2.0?
Yes, you can switch between 1.0 and 2.0 on the new platform. You will still have access to CoCounsel 1.0 on casetext.com through March 31, 2025. However, we strongly recommend that you work only CoCounsel 2.0.
What data will be migrated from CoCounsel version 1.0 to 2.0?
The transition from CoCounsel 1.0 to 2.0 comes with significant changes and improvements, resulting in a new platform that provides an enhanced user experience. However, this also means there is not a 1:1 relationship between the features of the two platforms.
As part of this upgrade, we have made the decision not to migrate chats or documents loaded via chat into the new platform. This ensures that all customers receive the best possible experience on CoCounsel 2.0. You will still have access to these chats and documents on the original CoCounsel 1.0 on the
Casetext platform through March 31, 2025.
If you have created databases in CoCounsel 1.0, you have the option to migrate those databases to the new platform. This migration will only include databases you have created.
The option to migrate your databases will begin on February 1, 2025 for Wave 1 customers and March 1, 2025 for Wave 2 customers. Once you sign in to CoCounsel 2.0, you will receive a notification about the option to migrate your databases. If you would like to migrate your databases, simply follow the prompts on the screen. If you don’t need your databases migrated, you can cancel out of the notification. The migration process occurs on a rolling basis and can take up to two weeks. All databases will be migrated by March 31, 2025.

Where will I find my migrated data?
To view your migrated data, navigate to databases page from the side navigation of the new platform.
If I shared databases with my colleagues, will they be able to access them in CoCounsel 2.0?
No, you will have to reshare databases with your colleagues after your databases have been migrated to CoCounsel 2.0.
What does this migration mean for my access to CoCounsel 1.0 on Casetext.com?
Beginning on February 1, 2025, the Casetext.com website will redirect to a new CoCounsel page. We strongly encourage you to
favorite the sign in page for CoCounsel 1.0 so you can easily access your chats and documents until March 31, 2025.
What happens if I am a current CoCounsel version 1.0 customer doing a trial of 2.0?
If you are a current CoCounsel version 1.0 customer who is doing a trial of 2.0, you will have your 2.0 data replaced before the migration, since version 1.0 and 2.0 data can't coexist. After your migration date, you can create new data in 2.0.
