Format engagement links in Word and Excel workpapers

Follow these steps to format Engagement Manager engagement links in Word and Excel workpapers.
  1. With a workpaper open for editing in Microsoft Word or Excel, select the
    Engagement Manager
    tab.
  2. Highlight the highlight the value you want to modify and select
    Engagement Link
    .
  3. Do one of the following:
    • For workpapers in Word or Excel: In the Format section, you can change the sign of the selected value by choosing one of the following options for
      Sign
      .
      • Absolute
        : Displays the selected value as positive. If the amount is returned from the trial balance as a negative number, it's displayed as a positive number. If the amount is returned from the trial balance as a positive number, it's displayed as a negative number with a negative sign.
      • Actual
        : Maintains the sign of the selected value. If the amount is returned from the trial balance as a negative number, it's displayed as a negative number.
      • Reverse
        : Reverses the sign of the value. If the amount is returned from the trial balance as a negative number, it's displayed as a positive number. If the amount is returned from the trial balance as a positive number, it's displayed as a negative number with a negative sign.
    • For workpapers open in Word: In the Format section, you can choose the following additional formatting options for the selected value.
      • Negative sign
        • Leading
          : Adds a negative sign to the front of the value.
        • Leading in red
          : Adds a negative sign to the front of the value and displays the field in red.
        • None
          : Negative values display without a negative sign.
        • Parentheses
          : Negative values display within parentheses.
        • Parentheses in red
          : Negative values display within parentheses and the field displays in red.
        • Trailing
          : Adds a negative sign to the end of the value.
        • Trailing in red
          : Adds a negative sign to the end of the value and displays the field in red.
      • Zero amounts
        • Blank
          : A value of zero displays as a blank.
        • Dash
          : A value of zero displays as a dash
        • 0
          : A value of zero displays as a zero and includes the decimal place field.
      • Decimal places: Displays the values 0 through 4. This is the number of digits displayed after a decimal point (the default value is 2).
      • Dollar/Percent
        • None
          : Only the amount displays.
        • Fixed $
          : Displays a dollar sign in front of the amount.
        • Standard %
          : Adds a percent sign to the amount.
    • For workpapers open in Excel: Use Excel functions for any additional formatting.
