Preview a file
You can quickly preview a file in Engagement Manager rather than wait for the file to open in its original application. You can preview a file in the workpapers grid using a split view or in a new browser tab.
If your firm is licensed for Guided Assurance, you can also preview Guided Assurance files.

Supported file types include: Guided Assurance, Created Reports, Place Holders, DOC, DOCX, DOT, CSV, GIF, HTML, JPG, JSON, MSG, ODP, ODT, ODS, ODT, PDF, PNG, PPT, RTF, TXT. WPF, XLS, XLSB, XLSM, XLXS, XML. PDF, XLSX, and DOCX files should install faster for preview than other file types.
Preview a file in the Workpapers tab
- In Engagement Manager, select theWorkpaperstab of an engagement.
- Select anywhere within the file row (except the Actions column).
- The file will appear in the split view area.
- To resize or hide the split view:
- Select the arrow tab to collapse or expand the view
- Drag the arrow tab to resize the split view to display more of the grid or more of the document preview.
- These settings will be kept for future uses, and you can adjust them later if you need to.
- You can use the toolbar within the preview area to customize the document zoom level, page transitions, page layout, orientation, download a copy of the file, print the file, expand the view to full screen within the view area, and enable a dark mode option.
Preview a file in a new browser tab
- Select
in the Actions column for the file you want to preview. - The file opens in a new browser tab.
You can move the preview to different areas of your monitor or to another monitor. This can help if you need to compare files side by side during the review process.
