Creating Custom Fields

If you are a Company System Administrators, you can create custom fields to include in matter templates. The All matter fields & help files page lists all of the fields that can be included in matter templates.
To access the All matter fields & help files page:
  1. Click
    Settings
    in the left navigation.
  2. Click
    Matter Fields & Help Files
    under the
    Matters Setup
    section.

Create or edit custom fields

A custom field is created when a custom label is entered and saved. After saving, the custom field can be updated by editing the custom label. To create or edit a custom field:
  1. On the All matter fields & help files page, scroll to the CUSTOM FIELD INFORMATION section.
  2. In
    Field Label
    column, click the custom field you want to create or edit.
  3. Enter or update the field name in the
    Custom Label
    field.
  4. Click
    Save & close
    .

Edit the values in a list field

  1. From the All matter fields & help files page, click
    Edit value
    in the
    Action
    menu for the field list you want to edit values for.
  2. To add a value, click
    New multiple values
    or
    New value
    , enter the value(s) then click
    Save & close
    .
  3. To inactivate (or remove) a list field value, click
    New value
    . Click the
    Value
    field then select the value you want to inactivate. Select the
    Active
    check box to remove the check mark. Click
    Save & close
    .

Upload company-specific field help files

  1. From the All matter fields & help files page, click the field in the
    Field Label
    column that you want to upload a help file for.
  2. Click
    Browse
    for the
    Field Help
    field.
  3. Navigate to where the field help file is located, select the file then click
    Open
    .
  4. Click
    Save & close
    .

Export field information

  1. On the All matter fields & help files page, click
    Export CSV
    in the
    Action
    menu.
  2. Navigate to where you want to save the file.
  3. If you want, change the file name in the
    File name
    field.
  4. Click
    Save
    .
