File Exchange overview

In the File Exchange screen, you will find files such as templates for forecasting, budgeting, and estimating taxes. You can view, download, and print these files at any time.
You might also find files that you'll exchange with our firm in this screen. You can download these files, make changes, then upload them to your portal where we can then access them.
For example, if you use CD-based applications (such as Client Bookkeeping Solution, Peachtree, QuickBooks, or Business Works) you can exchange bookkeeping data files with us through File Exchange.
File Exchange enables NetStaff CS users and NetClient CS users to exchange files in a secure environment.
In the NetStaff CS tab of the navigation pane, select
File Exchange
in the Documents section.
In the navigation pane, select
File Exchange
in the Documents section.
If
File Exchange
isn't present, you don't have access to it.
note
If a new file is available in a File Exchange folder, a New indicator appears next to the folder name and the file name. This will disappear when you open the file.

Temporary folders

File Exchange serves as a temporary storage location for files that we need to pass on to you. The application removes files from temporary folders after 14 days.
The Temporary Folder icon Temporary Folder icon showing a folder and a clock shows a clock. When you open a temporary folder, the application shows in the expiration date on which it will remove each file.

Permanent folders

The application doesn't delete files from Permanent folders. A lock appears on the icon for Permanent Folder icon showing a folder and a lock Permanent folders.

File transfer folders

The File transfer folder is a temporary folder that NetClient CS deletes after 30 days. It may contain the following types of folders.
  • Folders for you to upload files that we ask for.
  • Folders containing files we've uploaded files for you.
note
File Transfer folders are created in Practice CS.
You can also access secure messages from our staff from within this folder.

Private folders

Your File Exchange screen may include a Private Folder icon showing a safe Private folder, which is a permanent folder. You can store any type of personal files here. We're not notified when you place files in this folder.
