Step 1 – Link SMART Practice Aids engagements to Workpapers CS binders

There are two possible procedures to follow depending on whether you want to link a binder to a
new
or an
existing
SMART Practice Aids engagement from Workpapers CS.

Link a binder to a SMART engagement from Workpapers CS

  1. From the
    Engagement Binders
    screen in Workpapers CS, click
    PPC
    to open
    PPC SMART Practice Aids Integration
    tab.
  2. Click green plus icon icon below to launch
    Create New Engagement
    wizard from within SMART.
    If the Workpapers CS binder has not previously been associated with your existing engagements in SMART Practice Aids, the
    Select New/Existing Engagement
    window appears with the following two options.
    Create a new engagement selected
  3. Select the appropriate option:
    • If you have created an engagement in SMART Practice Aids, but the client name or engagement name is different than the corresponding engagement in Workpapers CS, select the
      Select an existing engagement
      option.
    • If you have not created a SMART Practice Aids engagement corresponding to the engagement binder in Workpapers CS, select
      Create a new engagement
      .
  4. Click
    OK
    .
Depending on the option selected above, perform one of the following procedures:

Link a
new
SMART Practice Aids engagement to Workpapers CS

If you selected
Create a new engagement
option,
Create Client Engagement
wizard from SMART will be displayed on the screen.
  1. On the first page of the
    Create Client Engagement
    wizard, the client and engagement names will be pre-filled with the names of selected client/engagement binder in Workpapers CS.
  2. Enter an
    Engagement Date
    , select the
    Engagement Type
    and click
    Next
    .
  3. You will see the below page in the
    Create New Engagement
    wizard. Here, select the
    Practice Aid Title
    and the
    Practice Aids Modules
    that you wish to include in the engagement.
    note
    The option for using an external engagement management software will be automatically marked to
    Yes
    and
    Workpapers CS
    will be selected as the external software by default.
  4. Click
    Next
    and follow the prompts to finish the
    Create Client Engagement
    process in the wizard. The new SMART engagement will then be linked to your selected Workpapers CS engagement binder.
  5. Next, go to Step 2 in the integration process.

Link an
existing
SMART Practice Aids engagement to Workpapers CS

If you selected
Select an existing engagement
option, the
Open Engagement
window from SMART will be displayed on the screen.
  1. In the
    Open Engagement
    window, select the existing client engagement that you wish to link to the Workpapers CS binder.
  2. Click
    Open
    .
    This will link the selected SMART client engagement to your Workpapers CS binder. The SMART engagement will be visible in the
    Engagement Binders
    screen within Workpapers CS.
  3. Next, go to Step 2 in the integration process.
