Reviewing data in Verification

When this wizard opens, the cursor automatically goes on the first uncertain field.
The following highlight colors may appear on source documents:
  • Pink
: Indicates a field auto-verified using the PDF's text layer.
  • Blue
    : Indicates Proforma data
  • Green
: Indicates a field OCR is certain about that field and requires verification.
  • Yellow
: Indicates a field OCR is uncertain about that field and requires verification.
Correct the value if required, press
Enter
to move to the next uncertain field. Continue hitting the
Enter
key until all uncertain fields are verified.
The other 'Certain' fields with a green highlight can also be manually verified by you.
Proforma options for identifier fields (Name, SSN, EIN, etc.) will show a blue highlight.
This step ensures that every amount/data captured by OCR is verified and ready to export to the tax software.
The superseded brokerage statement will be marked with the
Superseded
stamp on every page and all fields for these pages are deactivated.
If you want to capture data from a superseded page and unmark it as superseded, select
Remove Superseded Stamp
.
On the confirmation window, select
Yes
.
Select
Yes
to delete the superseded stamp and all the fields for this page will get activated.
Certain fields of Consolidated Statements such as Account Numbers, descriptions of capital gain transactions, foreign income, SSN, dates can be group verified. For example: If a description for a foreign income is verified the first time in a consolidated statement and it reappears in the same consolidated form, it will get auto-verified (i.e. you will not have to verify it again). This field will be deactivated. All these group verified fields have a blue informational icon placed next to them. You only need to verify this once on the first page.
Additionally, for the multi-instance fields, you will be able to view the total of multiple amounts for a particular field. For example: Selecting one Sales proceeds field + F11 will give the total of the sales proceeds reported and captured for that Consolidated Statement. The total will get displayed at the bottom of that window.
Important Note For GoSystem Users
In GoSystem tax software, β€œVAR” date creates diagnostic for capital gain loss transactions. Hence instead of using β€œVAR” in the date fields enter the following:
Short term transactions:
Date acquired: 1/1/2023 (Current Year)
Date sold: 12/31/2023 (Current Year)
Long term transactions:
Date acquired: 1/1/2022 (Prior Year)
Date sold: 12/31/2023 (Current Year)
You can simultaneously verify bookmarking of each source document while going through it.
From the toolbar you can identify the Document type, Form Type and Description for a particular document and after completing the verification for the entire page, you can mark the same as reviewed.
Selecting a placeholder SSN for spouse
If a binder engagement belongs to a client that is married filing jointly and the spouse SSN is missing from proforma, then the Verification wizard will allow you to select a temporary placeholder SSN for the Spouse user. Spouse's SSN placeholder will be 222-22-2222.
Review Wizard: Non-Mandatory missing field indicator icon
For W-2 forms, the Verification step (i.e., Step 2) of the Review Wizard will now show a helpful
Missing information
icon to hint there maybe missing information.
You can also select the
Missing information
icon on the toolbar to view a list of all non-mandatory fields with missing information.
