Integrating TaxCaddy SSO with your firm's portal

TaxCaddy lets firms to set up SSO (Single Sign-On) for their clients. TaxCaddy SSO login gives your clients the convenience of logging in to TaxCaddy directly from your firm's portal without entering separate user credentials for TaxCaddy.
With TaxCaddy SSO:
  • Your clients can log in to their TaxCaddy account with a single click.
  • Quicker onboarding of clients.
  • One less password to remember.
Clients will no longer need to be invited, when onboarding new clients, you only need to add/import the client to the Client Management page. Clients will be automatically assigned the Not Enrolled status, which will change to the Connected status after they log in.
Updates to existing clients
Once a firm enables TaxCaddy SSO, existing clients with the following invite status will also be updated:

Not Invited
Since clients no longer need to be invited, TaxCaddy will convert all existing clients with the Not Invited status to ⇢ the Not Enrolled status.
Once the client signs in through your firm's portal, the client's status will update to Connected.
Not Connected
Client's status will update to Enrolled. Client's status will update to Connected when they log in.
Connected
Existing Connected clients attempting to log in to TaxCaddy with a password will be requested to log in through your firm's portal.
Missing Info
TaxCaddy SSO doesn’t support clients with missing information. Provide all the missing information like email address and phone number.
Deleted
TaxCaddy SSO doesn’t support clients with the Deleted status. You can remove the deleted client from the Client Management then add them again.
Taxpayer's experience
The following changes will occur for the taxpayer once this feature is enabled:
  • Your clients can only log in through your firm's portal.
  • To use TaxCaddy mobile app, clients will need to log in to TaxCaddy through your firm's portal, go to Settings > Mobile Settings, and scan the QR code to log in.
  • Some client settings can only be updated by their tax professional. You can update personal information (for example, first name, last name, and email address) on your client's behalf in your firm portal, which will then sync with TaxCaddy on the client's next sign-in.
  • Spouse and Additional (Admin) Users added by the taxpayer will need to log in to TaxCaddy using their email address and password.
