Alternative to offline clients

Rather than using Offline profiles for clients reluctant to make TaxCaddy accounts, you can create a Standard offline account to invite your client. This way you can organize, track, and complete the information-gathering process beforehand, so when your client eventually does connect and verify their TaxCaddy account, they gain access to the existing account uploads, saving you any migration or clean-up time.
If something changes and you decide you want to invite them, add the client's email address to make them eligible to be invited.

Adding standard (offline) accounts

Follow these steps to add an alternative offline client in Client Management (for example, Standard Offline client):
  1. Select the
    Add a client
    icon on the
    Client Management
    screen.
  2. Complete the
    Add Client
    window like ordinary, however, don’t include information for the
    CLIENT
    EMAIL
    field, then select
    SAVE
    .
  3. Your new Standard (Offline) client profile will appear in Client Management with the
    MISSING INFO
    status.
  4. If you ever decide that you want to invite this client, select
    Edit Client
    from the client tile menu.
    Provide the client's email address, then select
    SAVE
    to update your client's record.
  5. Once you provide these fields, your client will be ready to be sent an invite in
    Client Management
    .

Importing standard offline clients (alternative offline accounts)

Follow these steps to import Offline alternatives using Excel:
  1. Open the Client Import Template in Excel.
  2. In the
    Is Offline
    column, select
    No
    to indicate that you are creating Standard accounts.
  3. Leave the
    Taxpayer Email Address
    field blank when adding or importing a new client.
  4. Complete the rest of the import process. Your (Standard) Offline account will appear with the
    MISSING INFO
    status in Client Management.
  5. To convert a (Standard) Offline client profile to an Online client, add the email address to the client record in
    Client Management
    . You can then send the client an invite.
