Reset user passwords

If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it yourself on the sign in page. You can also ask another user who has access to the
User Management
page, such as a Firm administrator, to send you a new password reset link.
There are 3 ways to reset a password:
  • FileRoom Login: Users can reset the password themselves by answering their security questions.
  • Re-Activate User: Useful if a user forgot their old password and security question answers. Firm Administrator or another user with access to the
    User Management
    page can send the user a reset password email. Users can enter a new password and security questions.
  • Reset button: User can change their old password by entering a new password.

Reset the password from FileRoom sign in

Select the link next to
Forgot your password?
on the FileRoom sign-in page to reset your password.
Enter your
Firm ID
and
Username
on the
Enter Details
window, then select
Submit
.
SurePrep will send an email with a link to Activate User/Reset Password to the user's registered email address. Select
Reset Password
to continue.
Answer your security questions, enter a new password, and then select
Reset Password
to reset your password.

Re-Activate user (reset with a new password)

If a user doesn’t remember their old password or security question answers, then you can send them the reactivation link letting them reset their password and security question.
Follow these steps to reset a user's password without entering the old password:
  1. Go to
    FileRoom
    ,
    Admin
    ,
    Users
    , then
    User Management
    .
  2. Select
    Re-activate User
    .
  3. On the
    Re-activate User
    window, mark the checkbox next to the user you want to reactive, then select
    Send
    .
  4. Select
    OK
    .
  5. An email with a link to Activate User/Reset Password is sent to the user's registered email address.

Reset button (update old password)

Follow these steps to reset a user's old password with a new password:
  1. Go to
    FileRoom
    ,
    Admin
    ,
    Users
    , then
    User Management
    .
  2. Select
    Edit
    next to the user you want to edit.
  3. Select
    Password
    , then
    Reset
    . A password reset email is sent to the user.
  4. A success message appears.
  5. An email with a link to reset the password is sent to the registered email ID of the user. Select the
    Reset Password
    link in the email.
  6. The user should enter the old password, a new password, the new password again for confirmation, then select
    Reset
    Password
    .
  7. A success message appears.

Password requirements

  • Passwords should be between 10 and 12 characters long.
  • Passwords must have a number, at least 1 capital letter, at least 1 letter in lowercase, and a special character. Passwords are case-sensitive.
  • Passwords must have a special character like !, @, #, $, %, ^ , &, *, (, ), )_ or +
  • You can't include ASCII characters like: ©€ ƒ ¥ √ ↓ → ↑ ← ½ α β θ © ® ¥ § ◎ ≈ ¶ ¢ £ ¤ « ¬ µ Ã Ä Å Æ Ç Õ æ þ ÿ ™ in the password field.
  • The sign in name can't be a part of the password.
  • Passwords can't contain white space.

Schedule a mandatory password reset

You can set a mandatory password expiration policy for all users at the firm. Once enabled, all users in the firm will be required to reset their password past a set number of days (force password reset every 90 days). By default, users can't re-use their last 3 most recent passwords. However, you can configure how frequently you can use a password.
