AL40-195 e-file error

Acceptance Validation: //ns:ReturnState/ns:ReturnDataState/ns:Form40/ns:OtherIncome/ns:BusinessIncome: 'If Federal Schedule C or Federal Schedule C-EZ is attached, then Form 40, Page 2, Line 2 (Business Income or Loss (BusinessIncome) must be populated. ' (rule AL40-195).
Page 2, Line 2 of the Alabama Form 40 can't be blank if a Federal Schedule C or C-EZ is included.

Solution

  1. Go to the Alabama Form view.
  2. Select
    Form 40
    .
  3. Select the
    Page 2
    tab.
  4. Make sure there are no overrides on Line 2.
  5. Remove any overrides, then recreate and retransmit the return.
  6. If there aren't any overrides, go to the Federal input and open the Business folder.
  7. Select the
    C
    tab.
  8. Check the following for every Schedule C unit:
    • Make sure the
      State
      field has the correct state abbreviation.
    • Make sure the
      State allocation
      field includes the correct allocations.
  9. If either of the previous items are incorrect, correct them, then recreate and retransmit the return.
  10. If the previous items are correct, you'll need to file the return on paper. The Alabama e-file system doesn't allow for $0 in business income for Alabama when a Federal Schedule C is present.
