F1040-064-01 e-file error

Form 8862 must be present in the return with Earned Income Credit Claimed Indicator checked. The e-File database indicates the taxpayer must file Form 8862 to claim Earned Income Credit after disallowance. (rule F1040-164-01).
You'll get this error if you don't include Form 8862 with the return when it's needed for an Earned Income Credit (EIC).

Solution

Refer to the Form 8862 filing instructions. If your client meets the requirements for EIC and claims the credit on this return, Form 8862 is needed.
You can resolve this rejection by either including Form 8862, or by not claiming the EIC.
If you believe there's an error in the IRS database regarding the client's past EIC disallowance, contact the IRS e-file Help Desk at 866-255-0654.
Option 1: complete Form 8862:
  1. Go to the
    Credits input
    folder.
  2. Select the
    8862
    screen.
  3. Enter data on the 8862 screen.
  4. Select
    Form View
    .
  5. Select the
    8862
    folder.
  6. Check that you've marked the Earned Income Credit checkbox on Part I, line 2, and completed Part II.
  7. Re-create and retransmit the e-file.
Option 2: Don't claim EIC:
  1. Review the data on the
    EIC
    screen, in the
    Credits
    folder.
  2. Re-create and retransmit the e-file.
