Configure email notifications when returns are accepted

You can configure email notifications for an individual client or for multiple clients so they receive a notification when their federal and state electronically filed returns and extensions are accepted.

Configure email notifications for an individual client

Do the following to configure an email notification for an individual client:
  1. Complete the
    Taxpayer email address
    and/or the
    Spouse email address
    field in the
    Contact
    screen in the
    General
    folder. UltraTax CS will send the acceptance notification to the email address you enter in this field.
  2. Go to the
    ELF
    screen in the
    Electronic Filing
    folder, then the
    Email notification when electronic file is accepted by taxing agency
    field. Select either
    1 (Return)
    or
    2 (Return/Extension)
    .

Configure email notifications for multiple clients

Do the following to configure an email notification for multiple clients at the same time:
  1. Select
    Setup
    , then
    Client Communications
    .
  2. Enter each client's email address in their
    Email Address
    field. The information you enter in this field transfers to the
    Email address
    field on the client's
    Contact
    screen.
  3. For each client you want UltraTax CS to notify, select
    Return
    or
    Return/Ext
    in the
    Email ELF Ack
    column. When you're done, go to step 9.
  4. Select
    ELF/eSign Options
    to open the
    ELF/eSign Options
    window.
  5. Go to the
    When
    dropdown in the
    Automatically assign Email ELF Ack
    section. Select either
    Never
    ,
    When Email address entered
    , or
    Always
    to choose when clients get the email notifications.
  6. In the
    Type
    field, select
    Return
    or
    Return/Ext
    from the dropdown.
  7. In the
    Email settings
    section, select 1 of the following options from the
    Address email from
    dropdown:
    • Firm
      : if you select this option, you'll need to enter a valid email address in the
      Firm email address
      field under
      Setup
      , then the
      Client Communications
      window.
    • Preparer
      : if you select this option, you'll need to enter a valid email address in the
      Email address
      field under
      Setup
      ,
      Office Configuration
      , then the
      Preparers
      tab.
    • Reviewer
      : if you select this option, you'll need to enter a valid email address in the
      Email
      field under
      Setup
      ,
      Office Configuration
      , then the
      Reviewers
      tab.
    • Staff
      : if you select this option, you'll need to enter a valid email address in the
      Email
      field under
      Setup
      ,
      Office Configuration
      , then the
      Staff
      tab.
  8. Select
    OK
    to close the
    ELF/eSign Options
    window and return to the
    Client Communications
    window. When you select
    OK
    , UltraTax CS reviews all clients in the
    Client Communications
    window and updates the
    Email ELF Ack
    column.
  9. Select
    OK
    to close the
    Client Communications
    window.
