Use the Simplified Home Office Deduction
You can choose a simplified method for calculating the home office deduction. UltraTax CS doesn't automatically compare calculations from the regular and simplified methods. We recommend you view calculations from both methods to decide which result is most advantageous for your client.
To choose the simplified method for a home office:
- Go to the Asset tab.
- Edit the home office asset. If you do not have a home office asset, you'll need to add a new asset and fill in the information for it using the Home Office tab.
- Select the Home Office tab.
- Mark theUse simplified optionfield.
- Choose Home 1 or Home 2. These options refer to the 1 and 2 options at the top of the Home Office tab, where you enter data for the home office and choose which home office to edit within the asset.
