It is important to report any state-related law differences and details in the CAInstPY Screen.

General Information

Mark this field to indicate that state calculations should ignore information from this unit of the input screen.
For sale of certain Section 179 QRP property, the federal version of UltraTax/1040 may create two units of this screen for the installment sale. One unit is for the portion of the sale to be treated as Section 1250 property and the other unit is for the portion of the sale to be treated as Section 1245 property. California did not adopt the provision to treat certain real property as eligible for Section 179 election. Thus, for sale of property that was eligible for Section 179 QRP election at the federal level, California treats the entire property from the sale as Section 1250 property. If there is a unit for Section 1250 property and a related unit for Section 1245 property in the 1040-US system, UltraTax CS creates the same two units of the input screen at the 1040-California level. However, for the unit corresponding to Section 1245 property, UltraTax CS automatically marks this field upon proforma to indicate that the unit should be ignored in state calculations.
If this is a non-proforma’d client, mark this field on the unit that corresponds to the portion of Section 179 QRP sale attributable to Section 1245 treatment at the federal level in order to ignore the information on the unit for purposes of state calculations.
This field is used for purposes of displaying a diagnostic message. This field does not affect calculations on the return.
