Screen CA3840PY - California 3840 - Prior year Like-Kind Exchanges Outside California (1040)

Overview

Use this screen to enter information for like-kind exchange that occurred during a prior year. UltraTax CS proformas information to the CA3840PY Screen from last year’s CA3840 Screen and Form 3840. If the taxpayer filed Form 3840 last year but UltraTax CS was not used to prepare last year’s return, use Edit and then Add Unit (or Control + A) to add units of this screen.
Information on this screen is used for Form 3840. To print Form 3840 with the return, mark the
Print Form 3840
 checkbox.
All units of this screen proforma to next year regardless of whether or not you mark the
Print Form 3840
 field.
For like-kind transactions for which property was transferred, identified, or received in the current year, use the CA3840 Screen.

General Information

If data entry was made in the prior year to indicate that the like-kind exchange was Final for Form 3840 reporting purposes, UltraTax CS proformas an X to this field. When this field is marked, UltraTax CS displays an FYI diagnostic message. To delete this unit, visit Edit and then Delete Screen Data. This field is informational only and has no effect on the current year return.
Data entry for City, State, or ZIP Code is reported on Form 3840 and included in the electronic record regardless of the data entry in the
Street address
,
Parcel Number
, and
County
 fields.
Parcel Number
 and Name of
County
 are reported on Form 3840 and included in the electronic record only if the
Street address field
 is left blank.
