Change the default salutation and IRS service center

For 1040 returns, the default salutation on the transmittal letter is
Dear
 followed by the client's first name.
  • To use a word other than
    Dear
    , change the default in the
    Document Editing
     window.
  • To print the client's family name or some other variation of the client's name, change the salutation for the client in the 1040 screen.
You can use the Letter screen to override the default service center information. UltraTax CS automatically determines the IRS service center based on the state ZIP Code entered in the general information input screen.
Follow these steps to change the default salutation and IRS service center.
  1. Select
    File
     then
    Open Client
     to open the client.
  2. Select the
    General
     folder.
  3. Go to the
    Screen 1040
     tab.
  4. In the
    Salutation
     field, enter the salutation you want to appear in the client's letter.
  5. Select the
    Screen Letter
     tab.
  6. From the dropdown for the
    IRS Service Center
     field, select a service center.
