Create a report of all clients with taxable Social Security income

Use Data Mining to create a report of all clients with taxable Social Security benefits in the current year.
  1. In UltraTax CS, select
    Utilities
    , then
    Data Mining
    .
  2. Select the database you want to search. For example, select
    1040 Individual
    from the
    Client database
    dropdown, then
    Continue (Step 2)
    .
  3. In the
    Print Selection and Client Search
    window, select a report, such as the
    CS Contact Information
    report.
  4. Select
    Add/Modify Searches
    .
  5. Select
    Add
    to open the
    Select Search Criteria
    window.
  6. Enter a unique name for the search, such as
    taxable social security clients
    . You'll use this name to select the search in the steps that follow. Next, since taxable Social Security income shows on line 20b of form 1040, make sure that
    Calculated Value
    is turned on.
  7. Find
    US: 1040, Ln 20b - Taxable SS Income >0
    and use
    Select
    to move this criteria. Then select
    Done
    twice to return to Step 2, and select the search in the
    Search name:
    field. The search will have the name assigned to it in step 5 and will appear at the end of the dropdown.
  8. Select
    Continue (Step 3)
    to proceed with the search.
  9. After the search is completed:
    • If no clients passed the search, the
      Search Results
      window opens.
    • If 1 or more clients passed the search, the
      Print
      window opens.
  10. Select
    Preview
    to view the report, or
    Print
    to print a paper copy of the report.
