Export a custom report too large to print

When you specify additional columns or select a larger font size when creating a custom report, Data Mining automatically shifts from portrait to landscape to export format as necessary. If you have too many columns to fit in a landscape report, then the application switches to an export format.
You'll receive a message when leaving the Custom Reports window that states:
Due to the width of this report it is in export format and will not appear on the Reports tab in the Print Selection dialog
This means you can't print the custom report. Follow these steps to export a report to Microsoft Word or Excel.
  1. Select
    Utilities
    , then
    Data Mining
    .
  2. Select the client database, then
    Continue
    .
  3. Select the search from the
    Search name
    dropdown.
  4. Because it's necessary to select a report to perform the search, and because the report isn't listed due to its width, select any other report from the reports window.
  5. Select
    Continue
    .
  6. After the search completes, select
    Cancel
    .
  7. Select
    Tools
    , then
    Export
    .
  8. Select the report from the
    Report layout
dropdown, the export format, an export location and file name, then
    Export
    .
    • DIF
: Select this option to create an export file in DIF format. You can import DIF files directly into many spreadsheet applications without any further data conversion.
    • ASCII
: Select this option to create an export file in ASCII format. ASCII files are compatible with most word-processing applications.
    • Excel
: This option exports the report in XLS file format, which unlike the DIF file format, will also include formatting for the column headings and other document attributes.
