Like-kind exchange of section 179 assets in 1120S and 1065 clients
For assets that have taken Section 179, you'll need to report them separately on 1120S and 1065 forms per Form 4797 instructions. By default, UltraTax CS and Fixed Assets CS won’t include Section 179 assets in the list of available assets for mass dispositions.
To include these assets in a mass disposition, mark the
Include section 179 assets as available assets
checkbox in the Select Assets screen when you create a mass disposition. tip
If this option is marked and
Like-Kind Exchange
is selected as the disposal method, both applications will create a replacement asset for each section 179 asset in the exchange. For example, if 4 section 179 assets are traded in a mass disposition, then 4 replacement assets are in the exchange.
