Scenario

You may get the following error message in UltraTax CS.

A session of UltraTax CS was ended without closing client XXXXX. Do you wish to recover the client data?

Cause

When you have a client's return open in UltraTax CS, a temporary file is created and data is cached to your local temp directory. Once you close the return, that data is then pushed back to the permanent data file for that client. If you close UltraTax CS without closing the return, that cached data in the temp folder may not properly transfer to the client data file.

Solutions

Select
Yes
 if you'd like to recover the data that was last written to the temp directory while the client's return was open.
Select
No
 to continue using the data saved in
\WinCSI\UTXXData
 (XX representing the year of UltraTax CS you had the client open in).
