Scenario

You may receive the following error:
Error message
"Error C0000005 (Access Violation) occurred at address in module. Context Stack: < UTWAPP.EXE, Initializing UTW >
or
"Error C0000005 ( Access violation) occurred at address....Context Stack: <wintax.dl, Calling US fixed asset transfer>

Cause

Access violation errors are a result of an environmental issue. The issue is attributable to the Windows user profile or workstation experiencing the error. If multiple workstations are experiencing this error, make sure you observe the suggested action on each workstation.

Solution 1

  1. Run the desktop setup as administrator (right-click
    run as administrator
    ).
  2. Review permissions for the
    X:\WinCSI\utYY
where X:\ is equal to the location where the application is installed.

Solution 2

If you receive an error that references Wintax.dll or fixed assets transfer, follow these steps.
  1. In the
    Asset List
    window, select
    Edit
    , then
    Reassign Assets
    .
  2. Select
    Unknown
    in the
    Activity
    dropdown in the
    Focus
    section.
  3. If assets display in the wrong place, drag and reassign them to the correct activity and unit in the
    Reassign To
    section. Often assets in the
    Unknown
activity are duplicates, or contain incomplete information, and need to be deleted. To delete the assets, first assign them to an activity (you can select the
    Miscellaneous
activity), then delete them from that activity.
