Error: Could not get lock for user [User ID]

Scenario

This message will show when you try to open the Bar Code Scan Utility if a lock file already exists.
Error message
Could not get lock for user [User ID]

Solution

Remove the lock file:
  1. Go to the
    X:\WinCSI\UTYYSYS\UID
    directory (where X is the drive letter where UltraTax CS is installed and YY is the program year).
  2. Delete the lock file
    UIDk1.[username]
    .
  3. Open the Bar Code Scan Utility.
