Error: Microsoft Internet Explorer must be installed to be able to view the Home Page

Scenario

This error is due to missing information for Microsoft Internet Explorer and not an issue caused by the CS Professional Suite applications.

Cause

This error message is due to a registry key missing from the workstation that points Windows to the path of Internet Explorer. To correct it, you'll need to change your Windows Registry to add the path to Internet Explorer.

Solution

We recommend that a qualified computer technician perform these steps as the Windows registry is an important area that allows Windows to run appropriately. To correct the issue perform the following steps:
  1. Close all open programs including CS Professional Suite applications.
  2. Select
    Run
    from your Windows Start Menu or press the keyboard shortcut Windows Key+R.
  3. Enter "regedit" into the
    Open
    window and select
    OK
    .
  4. Under the Registry Editor go to following path:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    ,
    Software
    ,
    Microsoft
    ,
    Windows
    ,
    CurrentVersion
    ,
    App Paths
    and verify that the folder (key) IEXPLORE.exe is missing. You'll need to create this missing key to resolve the error.
  5. Right-click on the folder (key) App Paths and select
    New
    then
    Key
    .
  6. Enter "IEXPLORE.exe" as the name of this new key folder and select
    Enter
    .
  7. Select
    IEXPLORE.exe
    and on the right side, there will be one entry called (Default). Double-click on (Default) to open the field and enter in the Value box
    C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
    or for 64-bit versions of Windows
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
    then select
    OK
    .
  8. Right-click
    IEXPLORE.exe
    and select
    New
    then
    String Value
    .
  9. Name this Path then select
    Enter
    .
  10. Double-click on the Path to change the value and enter the value
    C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer;
    (note the semicolon at the end of the path) or for 64-bit versions of Windows, it will be
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer;
    (note the semicolon at the end of the path).
  11. Once completed, you may need to restart your computer.
