ThomsonReuters.Authenticator.Desktop.BrowserHandler.exe file is not found
This error happens when the UltraTax CS 2023 installation is missing a file, or the UltraTax CS 2021/2022 platform updates are missing a file.

Solutions

Follow the steps in this order:
  1. Navigate to your
    WinCSI
    folder and open the
    UT22
    folder.
  2. Open the
    Desktop
    folder and try to find the
    Desktop Authentication
    folder.
    1. If the folder exists, open it and run the
      BrowserHandler.Installer.Package.msi
      file.
    2. If the folder is missing, open the
      UT21
      folder instead and check if it exists there. If it does, run the
      BrowserHandler.Installer.Package.msi
      file.
    3. If the folder is missing for both UT22 and UT21, go to the next step.
  3. Go back to the
    WinCSI
    folder and open
    Tools
    , then
    Desktop
    .
  4. If the
    Desktop Authentication
    folder is there, open it and run the
    BrowserHandler.Installer.Package.msi
    file. Otherwise go to the next step.
  5. Install UT23.
  6. Go back to
    WinCSI
    and open the
    UT22
    or
    UT21
    folder again and run the
    Setup.exe
    file.
  7. If UltraTax CS 2022 was installed before August 17, 2023:
    1. Close UltraTax CS 2022, if open.
    2. Navigate to
      WinCSI
      and open the
      UT22
      folder.
    3. Check if the folder
      utplatform.ext,22,3,4,#0000000RZE8UG
      exists.
    4. If that folder is there, find the
      utplatform.ext,
      22,3,5
      ,#0000000S4055O
      folder. Rename it to
      utplatform.ext,
      22,3,5
      ,#0000000S4055O.old
    5. Open UltraTax CS 2022, sign in, and retrieve updates through CS Connect.
