There are multiple causes for this error message.
Error when opening client
If you get this error when trying to open a client, it indicates that the client may be corrupt. To troubleshoot this error, make sure you can open a different client without getting an error message. If you've determined that this error is client-specific, decompress the client:
  1. Select
    Help
    then
    Repair
    .
  2. Select the client in the list.
  3. Select
    Decompress Client
    .
  4. Select
    Done
    then
    Done
    .
  5. Try to open the client again.
If decompressing the client doesn’t resolve the error, then the next best option is to restore the client from backup. If you use a third-party backup system or software, consult your qualified IT professional to restore the client data. You may also want to restore client files using

if you have system protection enabled.

  2. Go to

    , where X represents the drive to which UltraTax is installed and yy represents the version of UltraTax CS.
  3. Rename the file
    _yUSEFIN.DAT
    , where y represents the version of UltraTax CS.
  4. Try to open UltraTax CS.
  5. If this resolves your issue, go back to
    Setup
    ,
    Office Configuration
    , then
    E-Filing
    .
  6. Re-enter your EFIN and other applicable information in this tab.
