Microsoft Guidelines for CS Professional Suite

CS Professional Suite integrates with several Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word. This article explains the supported versions of Microsoft Office and recommendations for CS Professional Suite integration.

Office versions

We support integration of the following versions of Microsoft Office with CS Professional Suite:
  • Office 2010 (32-bit)
  • Office 2013 (32-bit)
  • Office 2016 (32-bit)
  • Office 2019 (32-bit)
Follow these steps to find out what version of Microsoft Office you use.

Office 365

CS Professional Suite integrates with Office 365 when the Office desktop applications are fully installed on the local computer.
  • Firms who operate in non-network, LAN, Terminal Server, or any non-Virtual Office CS/SaaS environments must have Microsoft Office applications installed rather than use web access. Many Office 365 editions include the ability to install programs locally. Review your firm's Office licensing and ask your IT professional to install Office.
  • Virtual Office CS / SaaS firms must use Microsoft Office within their NetStaff portals.

Virtual Office CS / Software as a Service (VO/SaaS)

If you want to use Microsoft Office applications with your VO/SaaS applications, you need to open Microsoft Office from within VO/SaaS (your NetStaff portal). From there, you can open locally-stored documents. You can also migrate your locally-stored Microsoft Office documents to Virtual Office.

Click-to-Run

CS Professional Suite products won't integrate with the Click-to-Run installation of Microsoft Office 2010. Click-to-Run is supported with all other versions of Microsoft Office integrated with CS Professional Suite.

Outlook

To send email from a CS Professional Suite application using Outlook, confirm the following:
  • Outlook is your default email program.
  • The MAPI component of Outlook is functioning.
  • Outlook is open and running.
  • You don't use Outlook Express.
The delivery of email depends on Outlook and the email service you use. Any restrictions on attachment file size or other policies applicable to sent mail in your environment may interfere with the ability of CS Professional Suite applications to send email via the email application.

Troubleshooting

Office application
: Check whether the Office application functions on its own. For example, if you can't send an email from a CS application, open Outlook and try to send an email directly. If the Office application isn't functioning on its own, contact your firm's IT professional for assistance. Once the Office application functions, try the integration again.
Multiple versions
: If you have multiple versions of Microsoft Office installed, integration with CS Professional applications may not function. Contact your IT professional for help uninstalling additional versions.
Run as administrator
: You need to run CS Professional Suite applications and Office applications at the same permissions level. We recommend that you run both the CS Professional Suite applications and the Microsoft Office applications as an administrator.
Add-ins
: Third-party add-ins for Microsoft Office applications may interfere with CS Professional Suite add-ins for Microsoft Office, or with the CS Professional Suite application itself. Any of the following behaviors could indicate a conflict:
  • Failed integration between CS Professional Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Inability to load CS Professional Suite add-ins for Office products.
  • Error messages or incompatible file formats in handling embedded objects from Office applications.

Hidden data and personal information in Office documents

Hidden data and personal information within Office documents may cause irregular behavior when integrating with CS Professional Suite applications. Follow these steps to remove hidden data and personal information.

Server Busy error

While integrating Microsoft Office products with CS Professional Suite products you may receive the error message
Server Busy
with the options
Switch To...
,
Retry
, and

. This error displays when there is a security setting in your environment that prevents programs from integrating properly. Contact a qualified IT professional to correct these settings.
