Choose your firm data location

If you have office share or branch licensing and you store each firm's data in a different location, you'll need to specify what data location you'll use to prepare tax returns. The data location you select determines the clients, client documents, print options, invoices, and other office-wide options you'll have access to.
If you've already set up multiple file locations, you'll have the option to choose your office/data location when you first open UltraTax CS. You won't need to complete these steps. If you haven't set it up, or you aren't prompted to choose an office when signing in, do the following.
  1. In UltraTax CS, go to
    Setup
    then
    User Preferences
    .
  2. Select the
    File Locations
    tab.
  3. In the File Types and Location list, select
    UltraTax CS client data
    .
  4. Select
    Modify Location
    .
  5. Make sure the
    Point to my firm's data location
    checkbox is marked.
  6. Select the correct
    Data location
    from the dropdown.
    Only locations that system administrators entered in
    Setup
    ,
    System Configuration
    , then
    Data Locations
    are in this list.
  7. Select
    OK
    to save your selection.
  8. Select
    OK
    again to save your settings.
